First City Chess is back!
After our summer break, we are resuming regular club meetings beginning this week.
August 13 — Special Library Meeting
Our first meeting back will be:

All players are welcome — scholastic, casual, and competitive.
Beginning August 20 — Return to KCKCC
Starting the following week, First City Chess will return to our regular school-year location at the Kansas City Kansas Community College Pioneer Career Campus.

Please note the new start time of 5:30 PM.
We are extending our regular meetings by 30 minutes this year to make room for more organized play, including regular USCF-rated games, while still maintaining time for casual chess, instruction, analysis, and other club activities.

First City Chess is continuing to expand opportunities for competitive play.
Plans currently include:
- Regular in-person USCF-rated game opportunities
- Online USCF-rated tournaments
- Additional club tournaments and structured events
More information about formats, schedules, and registration will be announced as those events are finalized.
Interested in Becoming a Tournament Director?
As the club grows, we are still looking for another member interested in becoming a Tournament Director.
Having additional TDs will allow First City Chess to run more rated events and provide greater flexibility in scheduling.

Kansas Chess Association — Renaissance Festival Volunteers
The Kansas Chess Association is looking for volunteers for its annual fundraiser at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival.
Volunteers receive:
- Free admission to the Renaissance Festival on their volunteer day
- Annual Kansas Chess Association membership
KCA membership includes benefits connected to several KCA-sponsored tournaments, including the Kansas Open, Kansas Class Championship, and other sponsored events.
